xbox one console

Major Nelson released a preview of new features coming to the Xbox One yesterday. These include Blu-ray support for 50Hz video output with a promise of more updates to come on the Blu-ray player, improved connectivity with reduced static to controllers and headsets and the option to allow for silent updating — if the Xbox One is in Instant On mode, updates will happen automatically without users having to power on the console. There’s also been an option to manually update on demand, visible only if the console requires such an update.

Continued incremental improvements such as the Blu-ray player improvement and higher quality connections of peripherals are a step in the right direction, much more welcome than the near-complete rehashes of system interface with every major Xbox 360 update in the previous generation.
