Fans of the Caped Crusader have much reason to rejoice following the recent Game Awards Show. Why? Because Telltale Games has just announced that a Batman game is now in development with an expected launch pencilled in for next year.

Details are scarce at present, but Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment President David Haddad is confident that Telltale will deliver on the high standard of work we’ve come to expect from the studio. “Telltale has an established track record of creating award-winning content for some of the best properties in the world,” he said in a statement.

Telltale CEO Kevin Bruner further added that, “This iteration of Batman will give fans a first-hand opportunity to dive deeper into the complex life and mind of Bruce Wayne, the duality of his own identity, and the struggle of responsibility in saving a city overcome with corruption and villainy.”

Telltale Games series always divide opinions because of their particular style of gameplay, but the more confident approach to story direction that we’ve seen in more recent outings should hopefully match well with the relatively flexible world that the Batman inhabits.
