The Fancy Pants Adventures review (XBLA)

The Fancy Pants Adventures was developed by Brad Borne and Over the Top Games, and published by EA 2D. It was released April 20, 2011 for 800MSP.

Yet another XBLA game based on a flash game, The Fancy Pants Adventures is the next installment of the popular online sidescroller. Although it's a sequel no previous knowledge of the series is needed to play this game. This time, pirates invade Fancy Pants’ home of Squigglesville and kidnap his little sister. Although this game is likely to be overlooked by heavier hitters like Super Meat Boy, Fancy Pants proves yet again that good XBLA games can come from online flash games and bring improvements to boot.

What we are playing: Week of April 24th

This is a new piece we're starting to let our readers know what we've been playing the past week. This will be coming out once a week from this point and should give a little insight into what we play just for fun.

John Laster – Stuck at home sick. Could be worse as I have Portal 2, Section 8: Prejudice and Netflix keeping me company. Still don't get why they cancelled Firefly.

Steve Melton – Still playing Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Section 8: Prejudice. Both amazing games.

John Carson – I've been spending my week enveloping myself in all things Portal 2 and Mortal Kombat. This weekend will include completing the Krypt in MK as well as co-op P2 with a dash of Section 8: Prejudice for good measure.

Kaitlyn Chantry – I'm playing Dragon Age 2. And I just recently finished Costume Quest, which I never played when it first came out. So cute!

Andrew Crews – I've been playing one of the greatest games of our time. Portal 2. I also went back to Strania to further test the "Court Martial" achievement. Good News, the achievement is attainable.

Stephen Haberman –I have been traveling a lot, but i did get a chance to play through the first few levels of Portal 2 as well as try out Mortal Kombat too. While traveling, I enjoy a good iPhone game here and there, and have played Tiny Wings for the majority of the trip.

Perry Jackson –I've been playing mostly Portal 2 from start to finish and how it's amazingly brilliant. Not much else on the XBLA front, probably try still to get 100% on Super Meat Boy.

Jonathan Cole – I'm playing the original Dragon Age and Portal 2.

Nathan Bowring – I've been playing Portal 2 (one of the best sequels ever) with a side of The Fancy Pants Adventures.

Damon Filman – Reunited with GLaDoS and it feels sooooo good! Oh, and kicking ass on Mortal Kombat, but only until ::insert gt here:: decides to challenge me online with a a record of 500/0. They see me as the vulnerable noob and spam challenge me.

James Heiger – I am finishing up some loose ends in Mass Effect 2. Then on to Halo: Reach.

John Drawdy – I have been sucked back into Halo: Reach now for a couple weeks due to the release of the defiant map pack. I also just recently picked up the retail copy of Plants vs Zombies and have been slowly making my way through that. Though these things are just fillers to keep me busy until tomorrow when the Gears of War 3 beta fully kicks off.

Todd Strickland – I'm playing Section 8: Prejudice and De Blob 2.
