Half price Doom II and Quake Arcade Arena

Presumably to celebrate the launch of Rage this week, Microsoft have reduced the price of select Bethesda DLC and avatar items. Also included in the sale are two of their XBLA games; Doom II and Quake Arcade Arena. Both are down to 400 MSP from 800 MSP. However this 50% reduction is only valid till October 10 so be quick.

Many thanks to Victor Sagat for pointing this one out.

Extreme Friday XBLA sale

If you thought this week’s XBLA sale was big, wait until you see the special one-day only offers that were teased earlier this week in Microsoft’s dashboard promotion. In addition to the massive number of games already discounted, Microsoft has added four new titles, all of which are at least 50% off. Note that these titles may not be showing up in the dashboard promotion yet, but you can follow the links below to purchase them online.

We didn’t mention this in our first post about the sale, but all of the Section 8: Prejudice DLC is on sale at 160 MSP a pop (with one at 120 MSP). Check it out here.

Thanks to @lifelower for the tip.

Gatling Gears down to 400 MS points

In another stealth sale this week, Microsoft have dropped the price of XBLA title Gatling Gears, down to only 400 MS points for Gold Members. Released May 11 this year it was originally priced at 1200 MS points but received a permanent price reduction to 800 MS points last month. We thought the game was a lot of fun when we reviewed it here but felt the 1200 price tag was a little high so this is a fantastic offer in our eyes. It is unknown how long the 50% off deal will last so be quick if this one takes your fancy.

Save on Bejeweled, Blacklight and Swarm

Our good friend @Lifelower brings us news of yet another hidden sale. Bejeweled Blitz Live, Blacklight: Tango Down and Swarm have all been dropped by 400 MSP, making Bejeweled 400 points while Blacklight and Swarm are 800. We’re not sure how long this sale is going or whether it’s a permanent drop so if you’ve been holding out it may be your time to pop on these games.

Change your gamertag for less

Those looking to change their gamertag but not willing to shell out the 800MSP are in luck. Next week (8/2 – 8/8) there will be a discount for the service to the tune of 30% off. Now it will “only” cost 560MSP. This still seems a bit high to us but for those with unfortunate gamertags it might be just what they have been waiting for. For the record, we hope none of you decide to change your gamertag to BeastMaster69. For fun why not list some of the more humorous gamertags you have seen in the comments section. Keep it clean!

Buy Bastion, get The Maw free – here’s how

Thanks to a recent tweet from Twisted Pixel’s Matt “Chainsaw” Chaney we’ve learned that if you pick up Bastion via the Microsoft Store they’ll throw in The Maw at no extra charge. If you’re not totally sold on one of the games, check out our reviews for Bastion and The Maw. Both games are well worth their asking price at 1200 and 800 MSP, respectively. Considering that you’re paying the equivalent of 1200 MSP for both is highway robbery, so be sure to jump in and get them before this deal is gone. We’re not sure when it’s going to expire, so act fast. Oh, and it seems to be open to US residents only as the checkout process required a US state and zip code.

XBLA Triple Pack cut to $10 at Best Buy

At XBLAFans, we normally don’t venture very close to retail considering the digital form of Xbox Live Arcade games. However, Best Buy is having a sale next week that’s almost too good to pass up. Sources at SlickDeals and Cheap Ass Gamer have both confirmed that Best Buy’s weekly print ad highlights a triple-pack of Splosion Man, Limbo, and Trials HD for a meager $10. The regular price for these games is 3200 MSP (or $40), so this low a price is clearly a steal. The deal will go live on July 17, 2011 (through July 23) and the product listing page should be refreshed to highlight the pricing change at that time. With our continuing coverage of excellent user-created Trials HD tracks, recent excitement for Ms. Splosion Man, and high praise for Limbo, this selection of XBLA titles is easy for us to recommend.

Hasbro Family Game Night, now on sale

Somehow this one has seemed to slip by the radars, but no more. Hasbro Family Game Night DLC (which is all the games you can download from the marketplace) is now 50% off until July 4, that means 400 MSP per game instead of the normal 800 MSP. So wait no more to get those classics you remember as a child, you can snatch them all up here.
