Pinball FX2

On December 4, 2014 an old evil villain was re-awoken in Tokyo when the Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 (NGS2) table was released for Pinball FX2 on the Xbox One. You play as Ryu and team up with three other teammates to confront this evil and attempt to “jump” your way to defeat it. Not having played the actual NGS2 game (a PlayStation 3 exclusive title), I at first felt a disconnection with this table. I was “going though the motions” while beginning to play it, but that doesn’t mean it can’t still make for one exciting table. The last couple tables that have released for Pinball FX2 (South Park and The Walking Dead) have had intricate, detailed missions to attempt with multiple ramps to try and consistently hit.

In contrast to those examples, the NGS2 table, originally made for Zen Pinball on the PlayStation 3, and it shows. There is a large open middle section in the table where the ball will pick up a lot of speed. With only three short ramps to hit, a much quicker response or more precise timing is required on the flippers to hit them. The NGS2 table also brings a new platform jumping mechanic that is unique to this table and a fresh new aspect and challenge to a game that I have been playing for many, many years.

It may sound like a joke, but it’s super cereal: a pack of South Park-themed tables will be coming to Pinball FX2 very soon. South Park Pinball captures the essence of the construction paper cartoon in two new tables centered around our favorite foul-mouthed fourth graders. South Park: Super Sweet Pinball recreates the insanity of the small Colorado town with Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny. This table features many fan-favorite faces and some memorable moments from the show. Butters’ Very Own Pinball Game is all about the boy who could laugh at a storm cloud recreating his best moments, including saving Imaginationland and his exploits as Professor Chaos.

South Park: Super Sweet Pinball is coming to Xbox 360 on October 15 and Xbox One on October 16. The pack will cost $4.99 on either platform. If you want to see both new tables in action, just check out the trailer after the jump, m’kay?

The Xbox One version of fan favorite Pinball FX2 is now available to download, and it includes the Sorcerer’s Lair table for free (read our “Buy It” review of the table here). Although it was up for debate for a while, any tables that you’ve purchased for the Xbox 360 version will also be available as a free download for the Xbox One version, provided they have been released. The newest addition to the Star Wars Pinball saga for Pinball FX2 now has a release date. Star Wars Pinball: Heroes Within will release on April 29 for $9.99, offering four new tables for the price of three. Two of the new tables have already been highlighted in trailers: a table dedicated to Han Solo that takes place aboard the Millennium Falcon, and a table that runs through the major events of the original movie, A New Hope.

The Droids table stars R2-D2 and C-3PO after they’ve been kidnapped by Jawas. It’s up to you to navigate the perils and help them escape the massive Sandcrawler. Masters of the Force will pay tribute to the users of the light and dark sides of the force, from Yoda to the Emperor and everyone in between. Heroes Within marks the end of the Star Wars Pinball series, but considering how great the previous packs have been this last batch should be equally as epic.
