Dungeon Defenders regrettably witholds character and costume DLC from XBLA

We all made many sad faces when we found out that Monday Night Combat would be abandoning the XBLA DLC plans in favor of continued and bolstered support for the PC version. As it happens, more sadfaces are on the way as Trendy Entertainment has wound up in a similar bind when comparing their XBLA support versus PC for Dungeon Defenders. However, Trendy isn’t jumping ship like Uber Entertainment did (let’s call it like it is), there will be compromise. Here’s an excerpt of Trendy Entertainment’s post on their forums regarding console DLC:

After much thought and investigation, we’ve decided it’s unfeasible from both a technical and business standpoint to bring the PC-only content (Holiday DLC, New Heroes Pack, Barbarian, Assault Mission Pack, Nightmare Mode, Shops, etc.) to the console versions. This is for a variety of reasons including the massive restructuring of the current console game that would have to take place, the QA process necessary to prepare for submission, patch size limitations, patch stacking requirements, and the opportunity cost of pursuing other projects.

It adds new deck skins, cards and avatars to the popular party game. All other add-ons released today were for Magic: The Gathering. New Dungeon Defenders DLC headed to Xbox Live on December 21

Trendy Entertainment has announced a new batch of downloadable content for their smash hit Dungeon Defenders that will be coming to the Xbox Live Marketplace on December 21st. For the first time, our tower defending heroes will be leaving the comfort of their own sanctum, and heading out into the lands of Etheria. Titled The Quest for the Lost Eternia Shards, this downloadable content is only part one of a larger arc. That means The Quest for the Lost Eternal Shards Part Two is likely already in development! It has quickly become clear that Trendy intends to strongly support Dungeon Defenders with plenty of post-launch content.

You can get a look at the reveal trailer for the Quest of the Lost Eternal Shards DLC by watching the video above. Don’t forget that part one of this quest begins next Wednesday, December 21st. While not exactly official, we expect that the add-on will cost 320 Microsoft Points. If you still haven’t jumped in on the Dungeon Defenders action, check out our review of the game, here. Stay tuned for more coverage of Dungeon Defenders and all of its downloadable content ahead of us right here on XBLAFans.

Team Meat brings more meat to the table

In the past few months Super Meat Boy and Team Meat have been all over the interwebs, between them promoting their game and publicly registering their distaste for Microsoft and how they handle business. As many of you know Microsoft and Team Meat have recently kissed and made up and apparently this couldn’t have come at a better time. Last week, Team Meat made a fun little video in commemoration of their one year anniversary and now we have the announcement for new DLC come to Super Meat Boy. Not sure when or how much it will be but Team Meat had this to say on Twitter:

ATTN: Xbox Internets Levels are in approval now. Fingers crossed for them dropping next week.

A plethora of DLC hits XBLA

Microsoft has sure been busy this week, a dashboard update, a new iOS app and the new XBLA game, Apples to Apples. Although that is quite a bit of content for just one week, turns out Microsoft isn’t done yet, they have dropped a lot of new DLC packs in the past few weeks, eight to be exact. So without further ado here is the full list:

Oh and don’t forget there is even more DLC next week coming out for Bastion!

Bastion fans to receive the gift of DLC this holiday season

Supergiant Games have previously insisted that there would be no DLC for Bastion, stating that it was designed to be a complete, stand-alone experience. Well Bastion fans rejoice, for today it has been announced that those sly old dogs Supergiant Games decided to put a little something together for the holidays as a show of thanks to their fans anyway. Set your diary for December 14 as the new DLC entitled Stranger Dream will be released for XBLA.

The Stranger’s Dream DLC will include a brand new, fully narrated sequence, said to give players more insight into Ruck’s story plus two new gameplay modes. The first, Score Attack Mode, is designed to be a challenging new way to play through the story where your combat performance is rated for efficiency. No-Sweat Mode on the other hand is for those who just want to experience the story of Bastion, providing unlimited chances to carry on if you’re defeated in battle. Player’s will need to have completed the main story at least once in order to play Score Attack Mode and the new Stranger’s Dream sequence.

So how much will this set you back? Only 80 MSP. Yes that’s not a typo, Supergiant Games wanted to gift this to their fans for free unfortunately Microsoft policy doesn’t allow it but at 80 MSP it’s about as close as you could get.
