More Dead Rising 2: Case Zero Details Released
Some more details have been distributed by Capcom about their upcoming prologue to Dead Rising 2, Dead Rising 2: Case Zero. In Case Zero you’ll play as Chuck Greene, a determined father and widowed husband. Set two years after Dead Rising 1 and three years before Dead Rising 2, in a small desert town called Still Creek. The major objective of the game will be to find a life prolonging drug, Zombrex, to keep his bitten daughter from zombifying.
Character attributes, prestige points, and combo cards(they show you how to combine weapons) earned in Case Zero will carry over to Dead Rising 2. Also, you’ll be able to see things in CZ that will appear in DR2 like that epic chainsaw/paddle dual saber. Darth Maul is awesome… I’m getting off topic… Anyway, this exclusive piece of DLC content will release sometime before September 28th. The price is still a mystery.
Marvel vs. Capcom 3 was always coming
Despite what Capcom said a year ago about the potential for a new Marvel vs. Capcom being based on MvC2, it was revealed that the process actually began in the summer of 2008. While this may seem like an obvious deception on the part of Capcom, you never know how games of this nature will turn out. There all multiple licensing issues involved when dealing with a variety of characters from different backgrounds and a good amount of negotiating that goes into picking the roster (see Tatsunoko vs. Capcom for reference).
Either way, we get what we want. In the unlikely event that MvC2 did poorly, MvC3 was still in the works. Fortunately, Capcom takes pride and respects the fighting genre they helped pioneer and has delivered consistent quality for hardcore fighter fans and those new to the genre. As reported earlier, the MvC3 lineup will be extensive with over 30 characters to choose from. The recent reveal that this game has been in development for two years now just shows the time and effort Capcom puts into their product. I think we can forgive Seth Killian for telling a white lie back then. All we care about is that we get the best game possible. We expect (and will settle for) no less from Capcom.
Marvel vs. Capcom 3 confirmed, Bionic Commando can jump
Capcom has hit us with a double whammy of official announcements for rumors that have been circulating for the past few days. First there’s Marvel vs. Capcom 3, due out in the Spring of 2011. It will employ a cel-shaded 2.5D style similar to Street Fighter IV. With over 30 characters including awesome additions like Super-Skrull, Deadpool, and Dante and helmed by the man behind Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, this will be another must have in this fighting genre that has seen a new resurgence lately. This time around Marvel vs. Capcom goes retail, so don’t expect to see it on Xbox Live Arcade.
The second title, Bionic Commando: Rearmed 2, will launch in early 2011. The biggest surprise? Protagonist Nathan Spencer has now learned the advanced skill of jumping. To any fans of the series since the NES version it’is a very exciting development and opens up a whole new realm of gameplay possibilities. Looks like the first half of 2011 will be filled with quality retro-remixes and more awesome cross over battles.
Rumor points to Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Bionic Commando: Rearmed 2
Rumors are circulating around the internet as to what secret games were shown at Capcom’s Captivate 10 event in Hawaii. However, Planet Xbox 360 has reported that a very reliable inside source claims exactly what those mystery titles are: Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Bionic Commando: Rearmed 2.
The information in the report is substantial enough that these titles seem all but confirmed. It states that MvC3 will be a retail game running at 720p and that Wolverine, Spider-Man, The Hulk, Magneto, Storm, and a few others will be back. Also, it’s expected that this game will be officially announced soon, most likely on Tuesday. Details regarding Bionic Commando: Rearmed 2 are thin, but it does appear that the game was announced via trailer at Captivate 10. Here’s to hoping it has another excellent soundtrack. Expect more details on this one leading up to and during E3.

Final Fight: Double Impact piledrives onto consoles

Capcom continues to lead the way in bringing classic titles to current consoles with Final Fight: Double Impact. The title will feature both Final Fight and Magic Sword, two arcade brawlers that have been known by some generations to swallow massive amounts of quarters. An optional graphic filter and soundtrack can give the games a new twist or old school feel depending on your preference. Capcom also claims that the games have jump-in, jump-out co-op with no online lag — a bold claim. Part of the joy of arcades was the randomly jumping in an a game in progress: would the player next to you help out or would he just hold you back? It’s coming to Xbox Live Arcade April 14 so get ready to spin kick, piledrive, and shoulder throw your way through the mean streets of Metro City.
