Yeah, when the McElroy brothers left to help form Polygon it changed a bit. But at the same time I’m not a fan of Polygon really. — More for the magazine-style layout than anything else.

I’d agree with Joystiq. I can’t put my finger on it but I don’t enjoy it the same as I used to.

Yeah, Joystiq definitely changed some after their departure.

I try to check as many gaming sites as I can on a daily basis for XBLA news. But when it comes to what I personally enjoy reading for gaming news, it’s Polygon, Games Industry International, Ars Technica and Wired’s Game Life.

It’s probably exactly what Steve said. The McElroy’s were by far the two best writers over there, and were both hilarious. When them and the EIC Chris Grant left, it’s changed a little bit.

The community has really gotten a lot worse over there, there’s a lot more stupidity in the comments then there used to be. Not sure why that is, maybe because they changed up their comment system…I know I don’t comment nearly as much.

Did not realize that’s where those guys went, along with Chris Grant. I see Phil Kollar from Game Informer is also over there now. Phil’s not my favorite but I’ll definitely check it out now that I know where Polygon came from.

Yeah, they poached talent from all over the place in addition to those four. Russ Pitts from The Escapist, Arthur Gies from Joystiq, Brian Crecente from Kotaku, Samit Sarkar from Destructoid, Russ Frushtick from MTV News… The list goes on and on.
