In a recent post on their blog, Undead Labs revealed some information on their upcoming DLC for State of Decay. Lifeline puts you in the role of leader of the military unit Greyhound One as they save scientists and civilians from an infested city. A major part of the expansion will be the new Home Site: an abandoned mall lovingly called Black Friday. It’s much more than the usual shelter; there’s a load of new features and facilities to make it the perfect army base.

The new Field Workshop allows you to repair weapons instantly by spending Materials, and the upgraded version will let you make your own ammo as well. The Landing Zone allows you to order supply drops and get them delivered right to your door. You’ll be able to order packages of resources, or choose from a catalogue of 40 brand-new guns. The new Ops Center replaces the Library, which will allow you to choose your team’s Tactics on your next mission. Maybe you’ll want to set up supply lines, find stranded soldiers, or just kill all the undead in site.

There’s a lot going on outside Black Friday as well. There’s room for four outdoor facilities, space you’ll have to use wisely. Generators are needed to keep your base running, but latrines will keep inhabitants happy and healthy. The base also has a selection of perimeter defenses, which will protect you during large-scale zombie attacks. Mines blow up the first zombies on the scene, propane tanks explode when shot, and fireworks traps lure zombies to their demise. Just make sure the base is fully protected before you fly in a helicopter – those things attract a lot of undead.

While living in a mall surrounded by zombies is bad, it sounds a lot safer than shopping on the actual Black Friday.
