Japanese developer 5pb Games has revealed in a recent blog post that Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds, the XBLA co-op side-scroller starring characters from Xbox 360’s Phantom Breaker fighting game, will cost 800 MSP when it goes on sale early next year. Producer Masaki Sakari stated that although 1200 MSP seems to be becoming a more common price for XBLA games of this sort, he believes a lower price point will inspire more gamers to buy Battle Grounds and jump online to play some co-op and versus matches with other gamers.

Sakari also announced in the same post that the game will receive DLC. The producer said that gamers will have to wait a bit yet for specific details, but that “Of course, we’re working hard to offer good original content…and furthermore with the DLC.” He also revealed that Battle Ground‘s DLC will likely have something to do with online matches.

5pb also updated the game’s website, posting the opening scene from the game along with new info about modes, character moves, stages and more. Story mode is the offline campaign in which players can choose one of four playable characters. Co-op mode takes the action online with up to four players and selectable stages, while Arcade mode is a single-player affair that cuts out the game’s story and focuses on score or time attack play. Finally, Battle Ground seems to be the game’s versus mode, pitting two to four players against one another.
