The next big update for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, dubbed the “Adventure” update, adds NPCs, villages, strongholds and abandoned mineshafts…but not this week (or the next, most likely). There’s still a good deal to work on, it seems – and of course there’s testing to follow after that; it could be a bit of a wait.

4J Studios, the studio that worked to bring the modern classic to XBLA along creators Mojang Studios, tweeted that they’re “still working on 1.8.2. A few things left to add … Still weeks away… One of those additions is the long-awaited Creative Mode, which opens up unlimited building to players, as opposed to having to mine for all your materials.

Since its initial release on PC in 2009, Minecraft has become nearly ubiquitous in gaming circles and has arguably become one of the most popular and pervasive PC releases of the last few years (certainly one of the most influential downloadable titles to date). The title, which allows players to create low-res worlds bound only by their imaginations (and time constraints) hit XBLA in May, and has since sold more than three million copies on that platform alone.
