The spiritual successor to Mega Man will once again fail to manifest itself, and this time with no specific new release date. Leaving fans, and those who supported the Kickstarter, to wait patiently while the development team continues to work out the kinks.

Mighty No. 9 ‘s Kickstarter was funded in September 2013, and since then it has been plagued with delays and ever-changing release dates. The last official release date of February 9 will no longer be met. Assuming this is the final setback, the game will now release sometime during spring 2016.

“The reason for the delay is rooted in bugs inside the network modes, and specifically problems with matchmaking. There are two large reasons for this problem, one of them being the large number of platforms supported,” said Keiji Inafune, founder of Comcept Inc. “Unfortunately, this is all a result of miscalculations on the part of us, the development staff. I want to take this chance to apologize personally, and on the behalf of the development staff.”

Due to major bugs still being present and networking issues across all platforms it will still be many moons before the general public will get there hands on the elusive Mighty No. 9 .

All we can do is hope that it will live up to its full potential whenever it transcends its “spiritual” status.
