The 2015 year has been a big one with respect to the Xbox One between the New Xbox One Experience (NXOE for short) user interface update, backwards compatibility with Xbox 360 games and a solid fall season lineup of Xbox exclusives. Now Microsoft wants to begin the 2016 year strong and is shooting to break even more records.

Mike Nichols of Microsoft has called 2015 a record year for the Xbox brand as a whole, and he humbly thanks gamers for being part of the reason. A post on Xbox Wire lists some amazing records that were made this year. Some of the records set were:

  • There were more Xbox users on Xbox Live on December 28, 2015 “than any other day in Xbox history”
  • Two hundred gamer-requested features have been added to the Xbox One, including the NXOE user interface update and Xbox 360 backwards game compatibility
  • “More than 350 games were released or or were made playable on Xbox One in 2015 (including first and third-party, ID@Xbox and Xbox One Backward Compatibility titles), fueling progress toward our goal of delivering the largest games catalog ever on Xbox.”

Also in the post, Nichols says that the momentum for Xbox isn’t stopping just yet, and that 2016 is going to continue pushing to make the year even bigger than 2015 with “great new games, hundreds of additional titles coming to Xbox One Backward Compatibility, a wave of investments in Xbox and gaming on Windows 10, new Xbox Live updates and features for the console including Cortana on Xbox One.” His report also ends with a preview of what’s to come for Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows 10 PC exclusives that are in store for the 2016 year for Xbox.
