Marc Whitten, Xbox Chief Product Officer, discussed details about the first large update for the Xbox One with Engadget during CES last week. Whitten stated that the social features of the “Live Experience” would be the focus of the update, mentioning elements such as party chat, which many have found more difficult to use than the Xbox 360 party system.

The large update will not include the long-awaited Twitch streaming feature, which is still a few months away. However, Whitten did promise that the Xbox One would get regular updates and would focus on trying to make the system better and faster. Hoe specifically mentioned improved TV functionality and upgrades for apps. No date was given for when the update will be made available, but Whitten hopes it will be ready to go before the next E3.
