While Major Nelson clued us in to the October 12th release date and 400 MSP price of Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet‘s first DLC, we’ve been left in the dark about most of the details… until now. The DLC, named Shadow Hunters, will pick up right where the original campaign left off. You’re off to stop the spread of the shadow virus once and for all by tracking it down and eradicating it in a nearby asteroid belt, but things will be a little different this time around. The biggest new feature most people will be excited about is the ability to play through the campaign locally with up to four people. We haven’t learned much about any other changes, but creator Michael Gagne has assured us that “Shadow Hunters won’t be more of the same. I’m really happy that we were able to further the story, push the art in a new direction, and create a potent gaming experience. We took the best aspects of ITSP while exploring new ideas. As far as I’m concerned, Shadow Hunters may very well be the most exciting part of ITSP.”

We wrote in our review that we loved what the team did in the original release. In fact, one of our main complaints was that there wasn’t more to play, so hopefully Shadow Hunters gives us more of the insanely twisted experience of the original. Keep your eyes on our site for more details as the DLC releases on Wednesday.
