Rumor: Worms Ultimate Mayhem may be on the way to XBLA

According to an Australian rating board, Team 17 has a new Worms game in the works titled Worms Ultimate Mayhem. No platforms have been announced but most of their titles have been digitally distributed so that could possibly mean an upcoming XBLA release. Since Worms 4: Mayhem came out last-generation, the title might allude to the previous 3D game. Hopefully we see more about this game and find out more details and what platforms it’s coming out on during E3.

Last chance to play XBLA before the Rapture

It’s time to bring down the mood a bit, guys, and I’m very sorry to do so. This may (won’t) be our last night to enjoy the finer points of XBLA. As all of you know (but no one believes), tomorrow is the impending Rapture. The end of all things. The prologue to DarkSiders. What’s a better way to spend your precious few (many) hours left on Earthrealm than playing the games you never had the chance to enjoy?

Friends, look over this comprehensive (couple months aged) list of XBLAFans’ Must Own XBLA games. Pick wisely because it might (won’t) be your last.

Seriously though, you should play these games regardless of immediate destruction or not.

Rumor: Alan Wake: night springs will be an XBLA title (Update)

An extremely trusted source has leaked to us that the upcoming Alan Wake: Night Springs will be an Xbox Live Arcade title and not a retail release. We have seen screen caps, but have been asked not to disclose them at this time. We have emailed Microsoft asking for a comment and will update as the situation develops.

We would like to point out that we announced the Gotham City Imposters XBLA game months ago, which was recently confirmed. We cannot confirm details about Alan Wake: Night Springs yet, but we expect an official announcement to come soon.

Update:

Eurogamer talked to Remedy earlier this month and a quote was given that seems to confirm our rumor:

“Fans of the franchise will be excited to learn that yes, more Wake is coming! But to be absolutely certain to avoid confusion, this next Wake instalment will not be Alan Wake 2. And neither will it be DLC,” head of franchise development Oskari Hakkinen.

EA already has the new Xbox? *Update – EA denies claims*

According to some inside sources Microsoft already has working developer kits for the next Xbox system. According to this same source EA already has these consoles on there desks ready to create the next generation of games.

Now to the untrained eye it would seem to most that the new consoles are nothing more then new PC’s for the office. As many of us know already though this is how they ship the new consoles so companies can get a jump on developing games. Lots of people seem to forget that this is how the last new console was shipped as well. When Microsoft originally sent out developer kits for the 360 they were nothing more then dual core G5 PowerPC Macs with an ATI X800 GPU, which is as we all know not what came in our little white box once it went retail.

According to Develop-online.net Microsoft has plans of announcing this new console at E3 and will be launching it around the end of 2012. We all know how the rumor mill works though things rarely stick to the wall when they are thrown. With that said just after this story broke the folks over at Eurogamer have had there own inside source completely deny the reveal of this new console at E3, so don’t hold your breath.

*Update*

Kotaku contacted EA spokesman Jeff Brown for comment, to which Brown stated “This story is a total fabrication – 100 percent not true”. Works for us. Buying new consoles so often gets expensive.

Sega Rally Online Arcade rumored for May 18

The folks over at Xbox 360 Achievements received a tip that Sega Rally Online Arcade was originally supposed to be released around this time, but the date was pushed back to May 18 to allow time for Sony to bring the PlayStation Network back online. We haven’t heard anything to confirm this yet, but our fingers are crossed. Thanks to @lifelower for the tip.

More Bat-domains surface

Back in February we broke the news that a Batman-based game could come to Xbox Live Arcade. Later we noted that Twitter user @superannuation found reserved web domains possibly related to the game. Now @superannuation is at it again, finding three more Bat-based domains reserved by Warner Bros. Keep your ears open and eyes peeled, our guess is that we’ll hear something solid on the game soon.

Rumor: XBLA Batman game coming soon?

We previously reported on a tip from an industry source that Warner Bros was working on a Batman game for XBLA, titled Batman: Impostors possibly based on the comic of the same name. Well some new information has come to light which gives more credence to the rumor.

Superannuation, a site famous for finding domain name registrations pointing to new game projects, has tweeted that Warner Bros has been busy registering some new Batman domains. Among them are BatmanImposters.com and BatmanImpostors.com, which is of course the name of the XBLA game we previously reported on. A quick note that both spellings of imposter are correct and in fact the comic we referenced before spells it impostor.

We still don’t have any actual confirmation or details on the game but the registration of these domains certainly points to the games existence and possible release in the near future.

The domains are also being routed through Turbine (owned by Warner Bros) this could mean the developer is working on the game but it could as just as easily be for any of many unrelated reasons.

Burnout Crash is an ‘arcade action game’

Joystiq recently broke news of the upcoming title Burnout Crash, which was found via a rating on the Australian Classification Board. Yesterday they investigated further, seeking more details from the board. They received a synopsis that the publisher submitted which stated the game is “An action arcade style game set in the fictional world of Crash City. The aim of the game is to cause as much damage as possible to traffic and buildings by crashing a car into them.” Here’s hoping that the game brings back the crash mode from the pre-Burnout Paradise games. If so then they can have our money. There was nothing better than to have the perfect scenario all set up to cause huge multi-car crashes and rake in the damages. Good times.

The developer of Burnout Crash has yet to be revealed, but we’re expecting this to be a Criterion Games title. Sources close to XBLAFans say that this is likely to be a digital download title, meaning we’ll probably see it on Xbox Live Arcade. Only time will tell, so until then we’ll hope that the rumors are true and that we’ll have our first XBLA Burnout title.

Jurassic Park is frightening in the dark

GameSpot recently got their hands on a live demo of Jurassic Park: The Game. The game is an episodic adventure series, which is a common practice at Telltale, this being their sixth franchise using the format. While all of the platforms the game is coming to have yet to be confirmed, Telltale did mention in the video that the game is “coming to consoles”. While this could mean the game is coming to Xbox Live Arcade, we’re not holding our breath.

The developer’s most recent episodic adventure, Back the the Future: The Game, was overlooked on the 360, as were Tales of Monkey Island and Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse, all of which came to PlayStation Network. Although we see Xbox 360 controls in the video, the developer and interviewer are quick to point out in the commentary that the game is being played on a PC using the Xbox 360 controller for input.

Some of you may notice that the title to this article matches the lyrics to a song. Tweet us the artist of that song for a chance to win two, yes two different XBLIG games. Be sure to add the hash tags #XBLAFans #winning to your tweet. We’ll only count those that have both tags. Good luck!

*EDIT*

Congrats to @Bryan81 for winning! The correct answer was Weird Al Yankovic.
