Microsoft making plans for their next-gen console?

Microsoft has posted advertisments on LinkedIn for 3 jobs which look like the inital steps in developing a next-gen console.  There are 3 jobs listed: a “hardware verification engineer“, a “VLSI performance architect“, and a “VLSI grachics architect“.

Unfortunatly the fact that these jobs are being posted NOW, more than likely means that its still in the initial concept stage. This would mean we are unlikely to see anything regarding features, design, or capabilities anytime this year…next year if we are very lucky and on our best behaviour. However it is good to see that it is in the works, that great things are being done in Redmond, and that a shiny new Xbox (if it’s called an Xbox) will be gracing our homes within the next few years.

Beyond Good and Evil: Pearl and Animal Collection Guide

This guide is for all you budding achievement hunters out there to use to get the Moneybags Achievement in Beyond Good & Evil. There is also a list of all the Animals and their locations towards the bottom, as you’ll need to get 48 of them to get some of the Pearls.

Now there is a known glitch with this achievement, where after collecting the required 80/88 it does not unlock. We’ve found a possible work around (below the spoiler warning) but it would be great if anyone can let us know in the comments below whether they are having any other problems.

*SPOILERS AHEAD* Continue reading “Beyond Good and Evil: Pearl and Animal Collection Guide” »

New Lucha Fury Trailer

What we have here is a lovely new teaser trailer from GameTrailers showing off the 4p Co-Op Beat-Em-Up game that is Lucha Fury. This summer will see a lot of different types of games coming to XBLA, including quite a few beat-em-ups. Lucha Fury looks like it will be taking a different approach to the world of side-scrolling fighting games by combining the world of comics with the Mexican wrestling known as Lucha Libre. Lucha Fury is hopefully going to be coming out within the next few months so keep your eyes peeled for more information.

Beautiful new 2-D Fighting game for XBLA?

It seems like there is a new fighting game being displayed at PAX East, called Skullgirls. From Reverge Labs and Autumn Games, Skullgirls looks pretty shiny. Combining the unique artwork of Alex Ahad (Scott Pilgrim, Lava Punch) with advanced graphical technology, this game looks set to be visually stunning.

Although we have not got official word of Skullgirls coming to XBLA, Reverge Labs has stated on their website they are “committed to creating high-quality downloadable and online games.” This hopefully means we’ll be seeing Skullgirls on XBLA sometime this summer. This game will appeal to old-school arcade fighters, bringing a high definition twist and awesome combos to everyone’s games library. Now because I’m all about providing lovely videos/screenshots for you to all go ‘OOO’ and ‘AAH’ at: please enjoy the following:

Magicka hopefully receiving port to console soon

Arrowhead Game Studios are hoping that Microsoft and Sony will give them the green light to bring Magicka (the award winning PC title currently wowing the gaming community on Steam) to the Xbox 360 and PS3 respectively.  Magicka has been well received by the Steam community. It combines unique gameplay and controls with fantastic dark humor taken from popular cult hits like Star Wars and Monty Python.

Bringing the title to the XBL Community will be a definite step in the right direction for Arrowhead in expanding Magicka’s fan base. Magicka requires players always be on their toes and supports up to 4 player co-op, which will be well received over Xbox Live. Combined with the two different game modes (Adventure and Challenge), fantastic gameplay, and funny story, Magicka will be an excellent addition to the Xbox Live Community
