First DLC for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD coming from THPS3

Big news came out on the Facebook page for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD. The game is confirmed to getting some DLC sometime after the game’s release and is grabbing from THPS 3 for choices. However, Robomodo and Tony Hawk haven’t decided on what and are looking for suggestions from the fans in order to pick the levels. After all is said and done though, The Hawkman will get the call on the levels. Hopefully Canada, Airport and Cruise Ship make the mix but what ones do you fans want? There’s some we got to be missing that you want to see. The game is due sometime in June for 1200 MSP.

Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown brawling on June 6 for 1200 MSP

After a showing at PAX East, we knew the release of Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown was on the horizon of summer. Now we have a confirmed release date straight from Sega that it’ll be coming out on June 6 for 1200 MSP. But the game could end up costing you more if you want to spend more points on DLC items. There’s a customization pack for each of the 19 fighters for 400 MSP a piece but it will contain upwards of over 600 to 950 items, for just 5 bucks.

The game is the latest arcade version of Virtua Fighter 5 which sports 2 new characters with Jean Kujo and returning from Virtua Fighter 3, Taka-Arashi. There’ll be online multiplayer and training modes to make your fighter prime and ready for an upcoming battle with someone across the world. If Skullgirls wasn’t enough fighting action for you, you can try your hand at Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown this June.

Twisted Pixel announcing a new game at E3 that you could win!

2011 was a big year for Twisted Pixel, releasing the pseudo-sequel Ms. Splosion Man and the Kinect-enabled Gunstringer. They haven’t announced much for what they’re doing in 2012 beyond porting the sequel to iOS but we have a new update. No word yet if the title will be retail or downloadable but if you’re still playing Ms. Splosion Man, you might have a chance of winning the game. It’s a challenge map called “Splokour”, inspired by parkour. You’ll have to guide Ms. Splosion Man throughout a level without touching the ground with the top 5 highest scores winning a plushie and their new game. They’ll be announcing the game during Microsoft’s E3 press conference set for June 4 and XBLA Fans will be there.

Haunted Temple Studios changes name to 17-Bit

You might know Haunted Temple Studios as the developer of the upcoming action-strategy game Skulls of the Shogun, but you won’t see that name attached when the game is released. The developer has announced a name change to something more short and succinct with 17-Bit, complete with the above retro logo. The change comes with the studio’s commitment to preserving classic gameplay ethics with modern technology to enhance them for the modern era. Jake Kazdal, CEO and Creative Director summed it up best with this quote:

“It’s 16-bit, plus a bit more, when we test-drove the 17-BIT name and logo at PAX East, people instantly got it. It reached the point where people kept stopping us on the show floor and asking where they could get our t-shirts. The new name sums up our goal perfectly — taking your best memories of the 16-bit era, and making new experiences that look as good and play as well as you remember.”

The logo was also created by Seattle/Toronto artist Cory Schmitz. If you want to learn more about Skulls of the Shogun, we have an excellent preview Nick Santangelo wrote from PAX East. The game currently has no release date or price point.

Might & Delight go through the process of self-publishing on XBLA

Things have been quiet with Might & Delight recently while they’re still at work on their first game, Pid. The developer, made up of ex-GRIN employees, had no publisher for the game but they didn’t want to go that route. They ultimately decided they wanted to self-publish which while rare does occasionally happen on Xbox Live Arcade Telltale Games’ Walking Dead being a recent example. Usually a publisher is needed unless the company in question is also a publisher of course. However there’s a loophole of sorts which Might & Delight has taken advantage of and we’ve detailed below.

XBLA Wednesday: May 2

Do you want to be whisked back into the world of Albion or would you want to be in the year 3587 as a jive-talking toad or a cowboy? XBLA Wednesday has both ends of the spectrum today. First up, the third game following in the Arcade Next promotion, Fable Heroes brings the world of Albion into a 4-player co-op hack and slash resembling Gauntlet. Players will fight over a wide array of levels and can choose between classic characters in the Fable series. Our review went up today and the game will set you back 800 MSP.

Another game for 800 MSP that came out today was the long-awaited (almost delayed) release of Awesomenauts. With a heavy 80′s aesthetic in presentation, Awesomenauts brings the MOBA style action into a 2D world with tearing down defenses and using your drones to farm against turrets in order to win battles. If you’re unsure what MOBA entails, we have a great XBLA Primer on the subject and we also have a guide in the works for Awesomenauts. Whether it’s killing defenses in the future or slashing monsters in a fantasy world, XBLA Wednesday has got you covered.
