Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 2 launch trailer

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 2 launches for XBLA on Wednesday May 15 for 1200MSP. The conclusion to Episode 1 looks to be pretty intense with a lot of high flying action. Hopefully the Xbox 360 will have the “blast processing” power to handle it all. Don’t forget that owners of Episode 1 will also unlock the special Episode Metal with the purchase of Episode 2. Time will tell if this title corrects some of the mistakes of its predecessor but this trailer has us feeling hopeful.

Pinball Arcade: upcoming DLC

Lots of news has been coming from FarSight Studios about upcoming updates and DLC for Pinball Arcade. First and foremost they have promised improved lighting for the tables with the next update. Though we didn’t mention it in our review this strikes us as a welcome addition. There are two upcoming DLC packs which will both launch on the same day. There is no official word on date but they are at least three weeks out. The first pack will include Medieval Madness and Bride of Pinbot. The second pack will contain Cirqus Voltaire and Funhouse. Price has not yet been announced for either of these packs but both include time tested classic pinball tables.

Perhaps most interestingly of all, FarSight has announced that they have negotiated the rights to reproduce the much acclaimed Twilight Zone pinball table. But as fortune would have it the terms are potentially too pricey to make the table financially feasible. They are looking into the possibility of using Kickstarter funds to get this project going. We would love to see this table get made so hopefully everything works out.

Ms. Splosion Man Pinball Tournament coming

Pinball FX2 fans have something to keep them busy soon. There will be a tournament for the Ms. Splosion Man table from May 18 – 25. This fan favorite table is high scoring so hopefuls will need to start practicing. As always Zen Studios has promised prizes to the skilled winners which will include MSP’s and free copies of upcoming tables. Tournaments allow players to get a big boost to their wizard scores. Those looking to recover from a really bad Wolverine score would do well to pay attention to this tournament.

Funhouse coming soon to Pinball Arcade

The next table to be made available for Pinball Arcade will be Funhouse. It will be released as a pack with Cirqus Voltaire in an upcoming two pack some time in May. Pinball Arcade painstakingly recreates classic pinball tables and Funhouse is one of the all time favorites. The wisecracking Rudy will be your companion as you try to conquer all of the table’s challenges. There is no word yet on the price for this two pack. But considering the Ring Master in Cirqus Voltaire and Rudy in Funhouse this pack’s theme seems to be silly antagonists.

Trials Evolution hits another sales milestone

One of our favorite games this year, Trials Evolution has hit yet another major sales milestone. There are now over 500,000 players on the global leaderboards. This physics based dirt bike challenge has really struck a chord with XBLA gamers. Lots of great content is already pouring out for the game and RedLynx has promised more tracks to come as well. It looks like Trials is here to stay.

Cirqus Voltaire trailer – Pinball Arcade

A new trailer has emerged for the upcoming DLC release of pinball table Cirqus Voltaire  for Pinball Arcade. It is one of the highest rated pinball tables of all time so we are very excited to see it coming to XBLA. Pinball Arcade exclusively recreates classic tables in video game form for your enjoyment. Cirqus Voltaire is known as a technical and challenging table that is still accessible for beginners. Just beware of the ringmaster’s insults!

Fable Heroes – Developer Diary

Another developer diary from Lionhead Studios for Fable Heroes has been released just in time for its May 2 release. It is a four player hack and slash fantasy game. By the developer’s own description it is Gauntlet and Fable mixed together. There were a few interesting tidbits in there including an allusion to recurring characters from the Fable universe being present in the game. Also interesting was the knowledge that Fable Heroes will interact with the upcoming Fable: The Journey. Enjoy the video and enjoy the game releasing on Tuesday, May 2.

The Walking Dead won’t rise in Australia/New Zealand

Australian fans of The Walking Dead are in for a bit of a disappointment today. The game based on the series of graphic novels will not be releasing in either Australia or New Zealand. It is unclear if the OFLC rejected the game or if developer Telltale Games saw the writing on the wall and didn’t attempt to release it in that territory at all. The Walking Dead received a Mature rating in America so there is no doubt that it contains some intense zombie related scenarios. There is a long history of Australia refusing to release games featuring “mature content”. XBLA has run afoul of this before with Wolfenstein 3D and others. Ultimately this is a shame for both gamers and the developers of what is looking to be a solid game. Stay tuned for our review very soon.

Skullgirls hits 50K in sales, update coming

Fighting game darling Skullgirls hit a major sales milestone in only 10 days on the market. Across all platforms the game has sold over 50,000 copies. That is great news because it has given Reverge Labs both the incentive and the resources to update an already stellar package. First on the list is likely adding a much requested in game move list. After that no one knows but character balancing would seem a likely next step. Regardless, we at XBLAFans are pleased to see such a deserving game find success.
